Upcoming Talk from Mark Hall BEM FNVS, Sunday 7th February 2016
National Vegetable Society presents An Illustrated Talk by Mark Hall, BEM, FNVS
This should be an interesting talk and recommended .
Hatfield Peverel Village Hall, Hatfield Peverel, CM3 2HP On: Sunday 7th February 2016 - Time: 2.00pm
Mark is the Grounds Manager at Harper- Adams University and in 2013 he was awarded the BEM for his services to education in the Land Based Industry. He has been a member of the NVS for more than 30 years; a Trustee for the past 22 years and currently holds the appointment of Assistant Secretary. Mark is an Experienced Lecturer and also a qualified NVS Judge.
Mark is an excellent all-round kitchen gardener. In recent years, he has perfected the growing of his five favourite vegetables - beetroot, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes and under 250g onions. This passion came about as a result of the introduction of the Millennium Class at the NVS branch shows which requires a collection of four specimens of each vegetable. Mark exhibits in this class at National Level and in the last few years has obtained two 1st places and three 2nd places demonstrating his considerable experience in having 20 specimens all in top condition on the same day at the same time; no mean feat!
During his talk Mark will share with us his approach to growing these vegetables, whether it be for the kitchen or the show bench.
